GasApp Terms of Use
Version: 2026-10-10. Russian text: terms-of-use.md. If the two differ, the difference is a bug — please report it.
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of the GasApp server you connect to ("we"). By creating an account you accept them, together with the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines.
⚠️ GasApp is pre-release software and has not had an independent security audit. Do not rely on it where a failure could put someone in danger.
1. Who may use GasApp
- You must be at least 16 years old. GasApp is not intended for children and is not designed to attract them.
- You need an email address you control. One address — one account.
- You may not create accounts by automated means, except bots created through the app's own bot feature.
2. Your account
- Your account is a username and keys that live only on your device. There is no password and no way for us to sign you in elsewhere.
- If you lose your device and have no backup with its recovery key, we cannot restore your messages or your account. We do not hold your keys.
- You are responsible for what is done from your account and by bots you create.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Delete account. Deletion is immediate. See Account deletion.
- Accounts that have not connected for 12 months are deleted automatically.
3. What GasApp is
- Private messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read them, and we cannot recover or moderate their content.
- Channels are one-to-many feeds. A channel is not a private conversation: anyone who has its link can read it; a channel with a public
@namecan also be read by the server. A closed channel is joined by a request that whoever runs it approves. - Bots are accounts run by a program of their owner. When you write to a bot, your message is read by that program and whoever runs it.
- Premium (the right to create channels and bots) is granted by the operator by hand. Nothing is sold in the app.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines. In particular you must not use GasApp to:
- share or solicit child sexual abuse material, or sexualise or endanger minors in any way — zero tolerance;
- threaten, harass, stalk or incite violence against anyone;
- distribute malware, phish, defraud or impersonate others;
- send spam or bulk unsolicited messages;
- break the law that applies to you, or infringe others' rights;
- attack, overload, probe or reverse the service to harm it or its users.
5. Content you publish
- You keep all rights to what you write and upload.
- Private messages are delivered as ciphertext; we receive no licence to their content because we never have access to it.
- For channel content you grant us a licence limited to storing and delivering it to the readers you intended, for as long as the channel exists.
- You are solely responsible for content you publish in channels and for what your bots send.
6. Reports and enforcement
- Anyone can report a user (contact menu → Report) or a channel (channel menu → Report channel) from inside the app, and block a user.
- We review reports within 24 hours. Reports about child safety are handled immediately and, where the law requires, passed to the competent authorities.
- Because private messages are end-to-end encrypted, we act on accounts and channels, not on message content: we may delete a channel, delete an account, or revoke premium. A report about a private conversation carries a cryptographic proof that the reported account really wrote to the reporter — not the conversation itself.
- We may remove an account or a channel that violates these terms without prior notice. If you think we made a mistake, write to
abuse@gasapp.eu.
7. Open source
The apps and the server are open source (Apache-2.0 for the clients, AGPL-3.0 for the server). Those licences govern the code; these terms govern your use of the service we run. You are free to run your own server — then you are its operator, and these terms do not bind its users to us.
8. No warranty
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will protect you against every adversary. The Privacy Policy lists what the service does not protect against; read it before relying on GasApp.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from your inability to use the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
10. Changes and termination
- We may change these terms. The new version and its date are published at this address; material changes are also announced in the app before they take effect. If you do not agree, stop using the service and delete your account.
- You may stop using GasApp at any time. We may suspend or end the service; if we plan to shut it down, we will announce it in advance.
